Tips to survive the Catwalk

We all know wearing heels all day, every day, can take its toll on our feet and back as a model on the catwalk. As LFW is now kicking off there doesn't seem like a better time to be writing this - so, here are a few tips for all you models on how to relieve these inevitable aches and pains!

P.S. these are also some great tips if you are generally always in heels!

Tip 1: Sore Joints?

Wearing heels all day can not only hurt your feet but can give you pains in your calves so... Stand on your tiptoes for 3 seconds, then on the heel of your foot for 3 seconds. Repeat this process to relieve those feet pains!

Tip 2: Getting tired and starting to slouch?
Slouching is a strict no-no for models, but when your tired you may slouch and not even realise. To beat this bad posture use a water bottle and pass it clockwise around the back of your body 15 times, and the 15 times anti-clockwise. This will wake up your back muscles and improve your posture!

Tip 3: Beating the back pain!
Standing around all day in heels can give you a sore back, so our tip for beating the back pain is... Slip your shoes off and balance up and down on the ball of your foot. Hold his stretch for 30 seconds and repeat, this will help lessen tightness and discomfort.

Tips 4: Shaping the bum!

If you're lucky enough to get a seat at London Fashion Week, or any other fashion show for that matter you may feel some discomfort on your bum as shows are delayed - as the muscles are a lot less active. To give these muscles a wake up and to keep your bum in good shape, put your back against the wall with your legs at 90 degrees. Place one foot over the top of the other knee and hold the position for 45 seconds. You could also slide up and down slowly to activate the bum muscles.

Happy catwalk-ing and Happy LWF!
